First Run

Confirm that database migrations complete, inky_admin.service is healthy, and the configured external URL matches the address users will open. Complete the initial System Admin bootstrap, review the Default Organization and Active Organization context, and configure only the integrations required by the deployment.

A documentation-only update requires no application restart. Normal application changes generally require deploying the changed files, allowing the pre-start migration runner to run, restarting the application, and validating the affected feature.

License requirement

Blackcap requires a valid Microwave Pie License before normal application use. On a new installation, enter the License Key on License Required before completing the normal application setup. On an existing installation upgraded to a licensing-enabled release, a System Admin may be redirected to License Required after sign-in until a valid license is installed.

Blackcap validates the signed License Key locally and can operate when the Microwave Pie software delivery and instance management service is temporarily unavailable. An online activation or later heartbeat is still used for instance binding, revocation, credential-generation, scope, and duplicate-use decisions. GET /admin/license remains available before sign-in as a read-only, public-safe License Details view so an expired/restricted installation can show its application, License Number, scope, status, period/end, and compliance without opening the rest of Admin. Entering a replacement License Key, forcing an online license refresh, viewing credential/fingerprint/revision diagnostics, and all other Admin actions still require an authenticated System Admin.

Initial checks

  1. Confirm inky_admin.service is active.
  2. Confirm the database migration pre-start step completed.
  3. Open the configured HTTPS URL.
  4. Complete System Admin setup.
  5. Review the Default Organization and Active Organization.
  6. Configure SMTP, backups, providers, displays, and AI only as needed.
  7. Run focused verification or the regression harness.
