Blackcap Chrome Extension
Capture recipes and shop with Blackcap from Chrome.
The Blackcap Chrome Extension connects Chrome to Blackcap. Use it to capture recipe pages, send recipe details to your Blackcap account, and run attended shopping helpers from supported shopping sites.
Assisted shopping
Use a Blackcap shopping list alongside supported retailer sites. Blackcap guides the list; you choose products and complete purchases yourself.
User-owned tokens
Each browser connects using a personal Blackcap API token, so recipe pushes and shopping actions are tied to the correct user and organization.
Setup
- Install the Blackcap Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store once it is available.
- Open Blackcap Cloud or your self-hosted Blackcap application.
- Open My Account and create a named API token, such as Kitchen Chrome Extension.
- Copy the token when it is shown. For security, Blackcap only shows new tokens once.
- Open the extension settings in Chrome.
- Use https://blackcap.microwavepie.com for Blackcap Cloud, or enter your self-hosted Blackcap URL.
- Paste the token and choose Test & Save.

Why the extension asks for permissions.
activeTab lets the extension read the title and URL of the page you are intentionally sending to Blackcap.
storage saves your configured Blackcap URL and API token locally in Chrome extension storage.
tabs, scripting, and sidePanel support the attended shopping helper, including opening retailer search tabs and displaying the current Blackcap shopping item in Chrome's side panel.
Optional host permissions are used for the Blackcap server URL you choose, so the extension can call your configured Blackcap API.
What the extension does not do
- It does not sell user data.
- It does not use advertising or third-party tracking.
- It does not load remotely hosted extension code.
- It does not automatically purchase items or complete checkout on retailer sites.
- It sends recipe and shopping information only to the Blackcap server you configure.
