Local e-ink
A full-server Raspberry Pi can directly drive one supported local e-ink panel for calm, always-visible kitchen content.
Displays
Displays are Blackcap clients. They can show meal plans, recipes, menus, and guided cooking views while the Blackcap application manages the content behind the scenes.

A Raspberry Pi display can securely poll another Blackcap server, install prepared content, refresh its physical panel, and report status.
A passive browser or iframe receiver shows the latest assigned preview, can hide its status bar, and retains the last good image through brief network interruptions.
A tokenized full-screen mini-app can browse recipes and meal plans, display selected content, return to the saved screen, and run Letβs Cook.
Preview-only displays support safe rendering and integration testing without pushing content to attached physical hardware.
Supported targets can show recipes, menus, meal-plan views, current assignments, defaults, scheduled content, and guided cooking sessions.
Interactive Kiosk
The Blackcap Kiosk is a simplified, organization-scoped, tokenized mini-app designed for a dedicated browser or touch screen. It can show the current display preview, browse and filter recipes, render a selected recipe to that kiosk only, browse meal plans by day, week, or month, enter a local full-screen view, return to its saved default or pushed content, and start or continue Letβs Cook sessions. When launched from a meal-plan entry, it can preserve the entry context and surface compact side reminders from the same meal slot.
Kiosk idle-return timing is configurable per display so an unattended screen can automatically return to its saved content after inactivity. Read the Kiosk capability details.
Blackcap display clients are intended to work with the same application model. A Raspberry Pi display can connect to a hosted Blackcap Cloud account or a self-hosted Blackcap server depending on the deployment.
