Overview
Blackcap is a kitchen planning application for recipes, meal planning, shopping lists, displays, and guided cooking. Blackcap may be used through Blackcap Cloud or through a self-hosted Blackcap deployment.
Information Blackcap may process
- Account and organization information needed to provide the application.
- Recipes, recipe URLs, recipe notes, meal plans, shopping lists, cooking sessions, display settings, and related user-generated content.
- Configuration details needed to connect optional clients such as the Blackcap Chrome Extension or display clients.
- Support messages sent to blackcap@microwavepie.com.
Blackcap Chrome Extension data use
The Blackcap Chrome Extension may use the active tab title and URL when you intentionally save a recipe page to Blackcap. It may also use shopping-list item status when you intentionally use the attended shopping helper.
The extension sends recipe and shopping information only to the Blackcap server URL you configure. That may be Blackcap Cloud or your own self-hosted Blackcap server.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure
The Blackcap Chrome Extension uses browser data only to provide its single purpose: connecting Chrome to the Blackcap application for recipe capture and attended shopping workflows. The extension does not sell user data, does not use user data for advertising, does not use third-party analytics, and does not transfer user data except as needed to send the information you choose to your configured Blackcap server.
Local extension storage
The extension stores your configured Blackcap server URL and API token in Chrome local extension storage so you do not need to re-enter them each time. Treat the API token like a password. You can clear it from the extension settings or revoke it from Blackcap.
Remote code
The Blackcap Chrome Extension does not load or execute remotely hosted JavaScript. Extension logic is packaged with the extension.
Self-hosted deployments
When you run Blackcap yourself, you control your own Blackcap server, storage, network exposure, backups, and user access. The Chrome Extension sends data to the self-hosted server URL you configure.
Data sharing
Microwave Pie does not sell Blackcap user data. Blackcap does not use advertising or third-party tracking.
User control
You can delete or edit content inside Blackcap, revoke extension API tokens, clear extension settings, uninstall the extension, or contact support for help with account and data questions.
