Blackcap Self-Hosted

Run Blackcap on your own hardware.

Self-hosted Blackcap is for users who want to operate their own Blackcap server. Today the most natural deployment is a Raspberry Pi, especially when paired with an e-ink kitchen display.

🥧

Raspberry Pi friendly

Blackcap began as a Raspberry Pi project and that remains an important path for self-hosted kitchen display setups.

🔌

Local or remote access

Use local HTTP for LAN-only setups or HTTPS when exposing Blackcap outside your home network.

🧩

Chrome Extension support

Enter your self-hosted Blackcap URL in the extension settings and connect using a user-owned API token.

Self-hosted setup checklist

  1. Install and configure the Blackcap application on your Raspberry Pi or other server.
  2. Enable authentication if your Blackcap server is reachable beyond your local network.
  3. Create a personal API token from Blackcap for the browser extension.
  4. Enter the server URL and token in the Blackcap Chrome Extension settings.
  5. Use HTTPS for remote access whenever possible.
